Graham Fagen worked with acclaimed music producer Adrian Sherwood on the recording of two Robert Burns songs, The Slaves Lament and
Auld Lang Syne, performed by Ghetto Priest to a dub reggae soundtrack. The process, documented on DVD becomes a powerful projected performance.
"The creation of the work spans generations and geography, artistic media and cultures. Song of lament and word of dissent unite to re-write, reflect
and re-connect. Graham's research started with his teenage years in Burn's heartland where the strange rhythms and words of reggae seemed less alien than
the language of his Scottish cultural legacy. Through the process Fagen himself stepped into new territory - the world of music production which became for
him one of the most rewarding outcomes of the project." - Lorraine Wilson, Curator/Visual Arts Programmer, Tramway, Glasgow.
